APPENDIX D: CHECKLIST OF COLLECTED VASCULAR PLANTS
ARRANGED BY FAMILY FROM FORT WAINWRIGHT MILITARY
INSTALLATION, ALASKA, 1995
The nomenclature or plant names for both vascular and cryptogam species in
this report are based on the University of Alaska Museum Alaska Plants database
(ALABASE), which is not available to the public and is unpublished but is based on
the latest taxonomic revisions of the various plant groups and the Flora of North
America (FNAEC 1993). As a result of these recent revisions 5060 of the vascular
plant names provided in the checklists are different from the names of the same
plants used in Hulten (1968). Where the names have changed, the Hulten name is
given in brackets with an equal sign. If a name in Hulten still does not match a
name in the checklist, two other authorities can be checked to determine the most
recent name for that plant: Kartesz (1994) and the NRCS Plants database available
over the Internet at http://plants.usda.gov. In some cases the name is new and
does not have an equivalent in Hulten.
