14. ABSTRACT
At the request of U.S. Army Dugway Proving Ground's Installation Restoration Program, the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Develop-
ment Center's Cold Regions Research and Engineering Lab developed a Geographic Information System (GIS) for management and analy-
sis of environmental restoration data. The GIS software can be used to compare and analyze datasets of diverse types, e.g., orthophotos,
contaminant information stored in a database, and geospatial datalayers such as sample locations, roads, and buildings. Powerful chemical
query capabilities allow the user to search for analytical results either basewide or at a particular site. Users can also query one or multiple
contaminants by a specific detection threshold level, or return all sample results regardless of detection level. Query results can then be
mapped to the screen to highlight clusters and/or possible contamination trends, or exported to a spreadsheet program. Hard-copy maps can
also be printed from the software.
